SPORTS BOOK

Here is how the semi-finals of the playoffs went down:

Cosmopolitan was a 7 point underdog despite being a higher seed.  Before the game the Cosmo players questioned how they could be 7 point dogs to a team they beat handily in the regular season.  I didn't have an answer for them.  But one thing I've learned over the years, if Sal makes a spread, one would be wise to take note.  Molinari's won by 7.  Exactly as Sal predicted.  Thirty bettors all lost and Sal wins $300 on the first game.

In the other game, Wreckin Crew was a 12 point favorite.  Seventeen bettors thought the Crew would cover and lost (+$170 for Sal) and eleven took JDS (-$110 for Sal).  Only 4 of those eleven actually believed JDS would win the game though. Another thing I've learned over the years, never count out a team trying to defend it's title.

For those who don't gamble, Vig stands for Vigorish and it's the amount charged by a bookmaker for his services. To quote Wikipedia, "Bookmakers use this concept to make money on their wagers regardless of the outcome. Because of the vigorish concept, bookmakers should not have an interest in either side winning in a given sporting event. They are interested, however, in getting equal action on each side of the event. In this way, the bookmaker minimizes their risk and always collects a small commission from the vigorish. The bookmaker will normally adjust the odds (or line) to attract equal action on each side of an event."
